In this powerful and deeply personal episode, I sit down with Lisa Jennett, better known as “Sunshine,” to talk about a story marked by pain, healing, humor, and an unexpected encounter that changed everything.

Lisa opens up about overcoming childhood abuse and the journey that ultimately led her to truly meet Jesus and discover what she calls God, Real Dad at Jesus Jail, a women’s retreat that became a defining moment in her life.

But Lisa’s story is anything but ordinary.

A self-described “less than tall” woman in her early sixties, Lisa has spent most of her life in Texas, with a chapter in Scotland along the way. She and her Santa Claus-variety husband, affectionately known as Tank, share six kids, around ten grandkids, or “natural wonders of the world,” and a love for traveling with friends, Harley trips, and discovering distant dive restaurants.

For the past 25 years, Lisa has made her living as a landscaper. She renames people because she sometimes sees them differently than everyone else does.

Behind all that humor is a woman who is madly, insanely in love with what she calls “the Triplets”: God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.

That love is what gives Lisa the courage to step outside her comfort zone and share parts of her story she would much rather keep private. She shares them because she knows what it feels like to need healing, to need a Father, and to discover a love powerful enough to change your life.

This is a conversation about surviving what happened to you, discovering who God really is, and finding the courage to invite someone else into the same hope and healing you've found.
